hey all- if you can, fill this out! It’s super quick and the idea of the results being skewed because of a shit sample is killing my lil research-brain.
If a person who identifies as female at the time goes to a women’s college, but later while attending finds out that they actually identify as transgender male, are they allowed to continue attending the school if they want to if they begin transitioning to male?
If you’re already in college, you should look at the particular policy of your school- it isn’t universal!
Most women’s colleges seem to allow trans men to continue attending the school to graduation if they applied as women and didn’t realize they were trans men until after they became a student there.

A cis man
No, you can’t apply to a woman’s college if you’re a cis man.
A trans man
No, you usually aren’t allowed to apply to a woman’s college if you’re a man, especially if you’ve legally changed your gender marker to male.
But- some women’s colleges will allow you to apply if you were assigned female at birth, so that leaves the door open to you in some situations.
If you applied to a women’s college and enrolled before you knew you were a man, you are often allowed to continue, so if you’re already there and really attached to the school then you might not have to transfer to somewhere else.
Non-binary
You can apply to some women’s colleges if you’re non-binary, even if you’re assigned male at birth- check on their websites first!
If you’re assigned female at birth and don’t identify as male, you are likely allowed to apply.
If you’re already enrolled in a women’s college, you can continue attending.
A cis woman
Yes, you can apply to all women’s colleges if you’re a cis woman.
A trans woman
You can apply to the vast majority of women’s colleges now- check on their website!
You couldn’t enroll at a women’s college before you knew you were a woman so you may not have applied to one originally, but if you know now it’s probably possible for you to transfer to a women’s college and attend it.

No, you shouldn’t apply to a woman’s college if you’re a cis man.
A trans man
While some women’s colleges may let you in since you’re AFAB, you probably shouldn’t apply if you know you’re a man because it isn’t a space meant for you.
If you decide to go stealth in the future, when you have to apply to jobs you’d need to disclose you went to a women’s college which would out you as trans, and that might come up in conversation with peers.
Non-binary
Maybe? This depends on your comfort level about the situation.
Being in a women’s college when you’re not a woman might feel invalidating and make you dysphoric since they’re obviously female-centric.
Other people you encounter will assume you’re a woman since you attend a women’s school which may mean you get misgendered more.
It’s a woman’s college and you aren’t a woman, but some are expanding to include nb people.
Women’s colleges may be more LGBT-friendly than the average school, so that’s a bonus.
A cis woman
If you like the environment of an all-women’s college, go for it!
Of course you also have the option of co-ed colleges though- women aren’t required to attend women’s only school if they don’t want to.
A trans woman
This is really up to you!
If you want to go stealth at some point, applying to jobs saying you were at a woman’s college might help tip people’s thoughts about your gender
You may encounter some TERFs, yes, but you also will encounter some really friendly women and form lasting friendships
Co-ed colleges are also an option if they’re LGBT friendly, but you’re a woman, so you can choose to do whichever you want.
Some schools are more LGBT friendly than others, so check Campus Pride’s page Everything you need to know about finding the best LGBTQ college for you which includes things like ask random students if they think the school is LGBT-friendly if you visit, check to see if they have any LGBT clubs or spaces, ask if they have gender neutral bathrooms, look into what the preferred name policy is, etc.
I personally identify as non-binary and transmasculine, and I decided to go to Sarah Lawrence College (I’m in the class of 2020) and SLC is a co-ed school that used to be a women’s college and it’s pretty non-binary friendly!

We did have many male students on campus due to legal reasons (nursing programs and other health related programs are required to allow men under circumstances) and adult learners who take undergrad classes. Okay, so there’s been updates on the situation with Tumblr, and it is now a bit more significant than it was last night (in relation to this actual blog).
The details of what’s happened with it all can be found here, but this is just an update now that things have changed a bit and things have become clearer than they were over the past few days.
Brazil did it. Brazil elected a neo-facist, racist, homophobic asshole to govern our country and the consequences about it it’s already happening.
In less than 24h since he’s been elected it’s been hell of fucking earth in Brazil. Countless people have been reported dead all over the country, mainly LGBTQ+. Countless. People parading around cities with their fucking guns (it’s pretty much illegal in Brazil but this asshole is trying to change our law to allow guns, he’s even encouraging parents to give their kids a gun ????), shooting it into the sky in sign of victory. Did you know that one of those bullets killed a child? Yeah. One killed an old lady too. There’s been report of them invading a indigenous village and attacked them. They’ve been saying they are going to kill every single “slut”, “fag”, “dyke”, poor people, Nordestino (people that lives in Nordeste, a region in Brazil, that is mainly against this government), black and homeless people. Aka in the last 24h Brazil felt what is like to live in the fucking Purge.
There’s already people recruiting “good citizens” to erradicate Brazil of “fags and dykes, because now that their master’s been elected, there’s nothing protecting them, they’re not even people.” I kid you not. They’ve created group chats in popular apps to talk about mass shooting the LGBTQ+ community in Brazil. Yesterday there were people waiting outside a queer club to beat anyone that went outside.
Our police enforcement already started to invade college campuses and schools to destroy history books because they think our teachers are indoctrinating us in favor of communism. These history books tells about our 1964 military dictatorship (something we’re very afraid of happening again and we’re pretty sure is gonna happen with this demon in charge). They are trying to say that we choose to elect a military government back then, when in fact was a fucking coup. They’re also trying to get rid of philosophy classes and social studies because they think it only teach us to become communists as well. Basically, they’re all very ignorant and violents and they’re trying to fuck with the only fucking hope we have to our future: education.
You won’t probably hear many of the things I’m saying because I’ve been reading it on social media, and everything we (the opposition) say on social media is basically reported as “fake news” by his voters. But yeah, I can’t count how many videos I’ve saw today of women getting beaten and threatened. Of how many stories I’ve read of people walking the streets and cars pullover poiting guns at them and threaten them. Of people posting pictures of their “victory bbq” with guns spread in their tables close to their fucking meat. Of how many times I’ve cried since his pronouncement, thinking about how I’ve never felt so unsafe in my entire life. Of how I’ll have to be cautious about everything from now on, if I don’t want to become another casualty.

fat trans ppl deal with a lot of shit and its so sucky because some people will only support skinny trans ppl bc thats all they can conceptualize and accept when trans ppl in actuality come in all different types of bodies
if u dont support fat trans ppl the way u support skinny trans ppl u need to rethink what kind of “ally” u are.
